Artist Statement
For a game studies class, my partner and I decided to expand on our prototype video game "Labyrinth of Shadows." I am the game designer and artist, and Abhinav Selvaraj is the producer and programmer. I used Aseprite & Photoshop to create all the visual assets (characters, environment, objects, and sprite animations) of the game, and Abhinav used Unity to program and code the game. For the sound effects/music, we utilized and credited found assets online via YouTube and sound effect library archives. More information about the controls and sounds we used are available in the technicals and credits.
Furthermore, the MDA features of our game has expanded. We added narrative to our game that entails the story of the evil wizard sorcerer's motive to turning the village's world into darkness. Throughout the game, the player must battle the wizard's team of goblins while finding journals throughout the dungeon maps. Each of the journals uncovers one clue to why the wizard sorcerer became cold to the world. Once the player defeats all goblins and the evil wizard sorcerer theirself, they can come back to the village and receive their final treasure. Along with the final awards, the player uncovers the story of the evil sorcerer's past and motive to darkness.
