Artist Statement

For this project’s oblique strategy theme of Ghost Echoes, I created a video installation artwork that further investigates the term “ghost in the machine” within our technological experiences. The piece visualizes the concept of ghost echoes through the use of animated particles, representing the remnants of past interactions and data left behind in digital devices.

The work highlights the idea that, much like human memories, machines too hold the traces of our past experiences. The installation creates a mesmerizing experience for the viewer, as they witness the ghostly echoes of interactions with technical devices. Essentially, the piece invites reflection on the relationship between humans and machines, and the impact technology has on our memories and experiences.

Technical Skills

• Created two motion graphic videos of particle animations on a path with Adobe After Effects
• Keyframed both videos to seamlessly transition across two iPhone devices 
• Shot footage of the two videos playing simulataneously
• Edited post production footage with found sound assets
